switching to Cow's milk in bottle
« on: August 19, 2009, 16:45:54 pm »
I have been trying for a month to get my LO to drink Cow's milk in the bottle but she will not take it, she will take formula but nothing else.  We have tried giving it to her in a sippy cup, regular cup so far she will eat it with a very small amount of chocolate milk added.  I guess my question is I want to get her off formula but am coming to a loss.  We have tried Goats milk and soy as well. Once you give her cow's milk and she will not take it, you want her to give something and you try to give her formula she won't take it, it's like she is saying NO you ed me off and I won't eat. I have tried only doing one bottle at first but I stopped since she won't take it.

have you tried mixing the cows milk with formula and then gradually make it more and more cows milk e.g. 1oz cows to 7oz formula, then 2oz cows to 6oz formula, etc, etc

I'd dilute as well.

Will she take pure cows milk out of a cup at all?

My dietician said children can stay on formula until age 2. I don't really want to do that personally because of the additional expense - but that is what has been suggested to me.

Have you seen the sticky at the top with regards to switching milk over at 12 months?  There is a lot of infomation on there.

With my DS we switched over completely and he did not notice the difference.  With my DD we tried that and she refused point blank.  We went down the route of diluting it and she took to it a lot better.

Definitley worth a try.

Let us know how you get on.
