Hey All
Trying slowly but surely to get our baby on EASY routine. He will be 5 Weeks old on Tuesday.
Only problem we having is some nights, not every night but maybe every other or every other but one. When our son wakes for his feed around 1-2am he doesnt go back to sleep afterwards he is WIDE awake. He lies in his cot making lots of playful and loud noises. Which would be ok but after awhile when he is obviously bored of that and ready for a change he obviously starts to get upset then.
Last night for example Jay fell asleep 7.45pm and woke at 10.10pm for another feed he then went back to sleep until 02:00am and woke for another feed only after this feed he was wide awake and would not sleep afterwards, i had him all swaddled up but you could even tell when feeding him that he was going to be awake. His eyes were wide open and alert unlike the other feeds where he starts getting sleepy towards the end of the bottle. We have the bedroom quite dark with the hall light on in the background just so i can see what i'm doing. But my partner always ends up just taking him downstairs (so i can get some rest) and letting him have some awake time ( as we cant force him to sleep if he obviously doesnt need it) and then just bringing him back up when he's tired. Last night that was 4am. And then from 4am he slept until 06:00 for his next feed.
Now on Wednesday everything is probably all going to get shook up (maybe for the better) as my five yr old starts back to school and i will be waking at a set time every morning (7am) to get us all up and ready for school. At the moment there is no wake up set time every morning as we've been needing any chance we can to get some extra sleep!!
Is it just a phase and can i expect the awake time to wear off once he gets use to sleeping longer and better at night?
The night before that was different altogether that night he went to sleep at 9.30pm woke at 10.45pm for a bottle and then back to sleep at 11:00pm and slept til 3:30am for another bottle and then back to sleep until 6.45am and then we got up for the day. So its not every night its happening.
Just wondered if anyone else experienced this? Is it just cause he still young (ish) and can i expect to see it improve with a set wake up time every morning? and when i do the set wake up time every morning 7am do i still give the bottle even if its only been a short while since a night feed? Just so i can keep the EASY pattern? so he gets use to waking up at 7am and having his first bottle of the day?
Any input appreciated
