Ouchy! Anyone weaned from breast to bottle?

How long did your engorgement last? I'm extremley uncomfortable and feel miserable!!

DD had her last BFs at 5am Saturday morning for 5minutes, and approx 2minutes at 7pm Saturday night.

To ease her onto formula I had pumped my milk to mix with it Friday & Satruday. So I did not pump or BF on Sunday at all. Yesterday afternoon the engorgeoment began followed by rock hard BBs, they are soooo sore I can't bare to touch them. I can hardly cuddle my little baby  :'(

Please tell me this wont last too long?  ??? Is there anything I can do to help ease a little? I tried ice packs this morning & took Ibuprofen. It helped for a short while. I wont do it as Kirsty has really done fantastic through this weaning process, but I really want to just nurse my girl in order to relieve the pain!!  :-\

I pumped for quite a few weeks after stopping the breast feeds - slowly expressing less and less each time.

It is a slow way of doing it but less risk of mastitis  :( :-X.

I found once I was down to only 2 pumping sessions a day my supply fell very quickly.

Otherwise I think it takes a good week or so - but the risk of mastitis really is quite high with an abrupt stop in an established BFing mummy.

omgosh I hadn't even thought about mastitis :( Ok, Now I'm scared!! I've now done approx 36hrs without pumping and 48hrs since I did my last 2 minute BF. I'd like to hope I'm through the worst?

My pumping did slow down over the course of Thursday/Friday/Saturday, Thurs I was pumping & BFing a little, Friday I pumped 8oz across the day for her bottles, and a tiny BF at bedtime, Saturday I pumped 4oz and a 2min BF at bedtime, Sunday I pump 1oz in the morning and that was me done.

Do you think I've come far enough to continue now without pumping?

I'm not sure TBH - pop a quick post on the BFing pages and see if anyone else can be a bit more helpful  :)

I think you will have gone through the worst, I guess.

Are you still very engorged?

Still as engorged as I was yesterday evening, yes. Not throbbing now thouugh so I'm hopeful they will start to ease up soon. I used an ice pack this morning, will do another before bed.
