dreamfeed confusion
« on: September 03, 2009, 16:33:47 pm »
hi there,
need some advice with regards to the dreamfeed my baby boy is now 4 weeks old and we have finally got a good E.A.S.Y routine going through the day with a typical days feeds being at 7 10 1 4 and 7 ive been feeding him at 6 but only a couple of ounzes then bath and a top up and in bed for 7 i dont really want to change this as i have a 3yr old daughter and this fits in great with her bed time routine. My problem is that ive now introduced a dreamfeed at about 10.30 and he will take about 3oz and go straight back to bed but he is still waking at approx one in the morn and then again 3hrs later and then back to 7 in the morn and we start again.  I have been doing this for the past 3 nights and i thought he would cut out the 1oclock feed but not as yet am i being to impatient and just need to persist with this routine or am i going wrong somewhere, please help! Thanks. :-\

 Hi,

Congrats on your new wee bundle! Sounds like you have your hands full!!

The DF doesn't work for all LO's but I would persevere with it for at least a week to give him the chance to get the hang of it...I know its tough when you have a tiny one though. It took my DS a ggod 7 days before he dropped a night feed after starting the DF and it completely did the trick for us.

I completely agree with Emma.  The DF does not always work for every lo, and with some lo's it can acutally cause more NW's than previously.  Although, I would give the new routine at least 7 days before you decide to drop the DF and go back to your old routine.

Good luck, keep us posted on how you get on.

LO means "little one"

Here is a link that will help you with all the abbreviations.
