Weetbix?
« on: September 18, 2009, 17:48:09 pm »
I keep hearing about this cereal.  When did you offer it to your LO?  How did you offer it?  As a cereal with formula all mushed up?  Or did you soak them a little and offer them as a finger food?

We also mixed with warm formula and spoon fed and it was and still is very popular. Think DS started it at 7 mths. I think its too dry to be a finger food to be honest.

Ya, I wouldn't try weetabix as finger food. It just crumbles and would be a huge mess, very difficult to eat, and extremely dry. I am not sure that an adult could stomach it as a dry finger food even!  As soon as you have added liquid though, it goes to mush quite quickly so you can't use it as finger food that way either.  My son wouldn't take it with formula on it, but he did take it with a bit of water to soften it and then added into his purees.

alsonoffered it with warm milk..formula then cows milk....not too much as it gets very bitty int he milk cant remember what age though sory..before 11 months as I know we sent it in to daycare when she started for breckie and she had been having it for a good while prior to that. Also think its too dry to offer as finger foods.

We started DD on weetabix at 6months as she had constipation issues and weetabix is a fibre cereal. She adores it and wont eat any other breakfast! I use formula and 2 cubes of fruit puree in hers.

We love it here too.  Its no  good as a finger food.  We've always done it with warmed cows milk and it goes down a treat!

I have tried Weetbix with formula and my lo will not take it. Should I try cow's milk?

I use it with cows milk and if I drop lumps onto his highchair table top he loves to pick them up and eat them himself.  I add milk to the whole weetabix's and let it soak in ..... make sure you clean the highchair straight after as it sticks like cement when it dries!

How right you are!  I forgot to rinse the bowl yesterday and when I came back to it , it was a disaster!

I use cows milk with it with no probs. Have started to wipe DS's face a few times during breakfast as its sooo hard to get off if left til he's finished! He hates having his face wiped anyway but you have to be a little heavy handed to get weetabix off and it does not go down well!! Poor boy!
