Thanks Bryony! :)

DD has dropped her nap gradually since before the summer, so started at about 2.5 yrs (still will do maybe one catch up nap at the weekend but not always) Since, she hasn't lengthened her night sleep at all, so interested to know how much others' toddlers sleep to compare.

DS largely gave up on his nap at around 2y, IIRC.  Usually sleeps somewhere between 12-13h at night, but I think he's a bit unusual!  He could probably still do with a nap, but fighting him to keep him in his room is just too much!!

Zander dropped his nap some time around 2.5 I think, definitely before he was 3.  He probably sleeps an average of 11 hours at night, sometimes longer, rarely shorter.

DD dropped her nap completely by 33 mos.  She had about 12 hrs nights.  It didn't lengthen overnight but took a few weeks to get there.

I dont think often pre schoolers sleeper later in am, i think they just start night sleep ealier.

Can you tell this to Zander please?  The boy wants to stay up til stupid o'clock and is like a teenager in the morning - quite nice at weekends though!

At 3 yrs we were at a steady 7am-7pm - 12 hour night.

Now we are more than usually a 11-11.5 hour night with bedtime being as early as 7:15 and no later than 7:40pm. He went to bed last week at 6:30pm as he was exhausted from first week back at school and did 12 hours.  He will never sleep in past 7am-ish, so it is better for us to get him earlier in the evening in hopes to get a 11+ night.  I think 11 hours and 20 min is his best IMHO.

Masyn dropped her last nap in Feb at about 2.5 years and she has always slept 12 hours at night (I actually forced dropping it so that we could keep both kids on a 12 hour night)

hmm tbh never tried it that early Stacy and it might be a cumalative thing.

So lats night was great DS slept 10.5 hrs and had a 1.5hr nap sunday afternoon, has refused nap today so might put him in bed early and see how it goes. 11 hrs would mean starting bed time at 6...not sure what he will feel about that...his stubborn streak is growing like crazy.

Sorry to hijack your thread vicku!

pssst most would consider your dd a pre schooler now. You might get more replies if you said pre schooler. Shes 3!

Kaleb sleeps 11-12, mostly 11.5 hours give or take since dropping his nap.  Have you made bedtime ealier to compensate for no nap? I dont think often pre schoolers sleeper later in am, i think they just start night sleep ealier.

Yeah I thought she'd be more a pre-schooler but as it says to post sleep up til 3.9 yo, I put it here. I have a thread about bedtime resistance in pre-schoolers too though as thought there'd be more relevant advice there.

Hi Mukta! Yes, we seem to go through stuff together :) DD has also always been a less then average sleep-need kid.

No matter what we've tried for quite a while now I can't get her nights to stretch past 10 hrs. Sometimes they're 9.5 :-\ She hardly ever naps to catch up anymore, and if she does go to sleep in the pm it's in the car. On those days we have even more bedtime resistance and she won't be asleep til really late and will still wake same time as usual in the am ::)

Thanks for everyones' responses!! It seems as 11 hrs is still quite on the low end??? I have a feeling she'd be happier and more rested if she'd do 11 hrs, but I just can't seem to get her there, and she's not extended by herself so far...
