What happened to my good sleeper? 22 mos old DD - help!
« on: October 02, 2009, 18:36:18 pm »
Hi there. My DD has been on a very solid routine now for nearly 9 mos:

7:30am wake
12:30-2:30pm nap time
8/8:30pm - bedtime

Lately she has been taking about 30 or so minutes to fall asleep at bedtime. I am ok with it because she just plays, never complains.
However lately she has been waking at 5am FOR the day. She also will NOT go down for a nap earlier. You would think she would be exhausted by nap time, but now she is taking 20-40 minutes to fall asleep at nap time, and only sleeping for a little over an hour.

I have no idea why. She went from 11-11.5 hours a night to a mere 8, and a 2-2.5 hour nap, to an hour nap literally overnight. 9pm - 5am is NOT my idea of fun. She gets up at the crack of dawn and plays. Plays before her nap, after nap, and before bed. I would actually feel better if she was acting OT, but she is not.

She used to fall asleep before nap and bed in 3 minutes flat - out like a light. Also my parents are coming into town for a visit next week and it always throws her sleep off. I would hate to have them come into town and makes things WORSE.

She is not sick, not teething either. Any ideas on how to get my good sleeper back?
Has she maybe outgrown her nap? It seems early to me.

Help!

My DD2 is a little older but we are going through a similar thing. What i realised was is 2 things:

She is teething with her last tooth
She needed to move her nap a little later and i have cut it down by 30mins.

So perhaps try cutting that nap to 1.5hrs to see if that helps.
