How much fruit?
« on: October 03, 2009, 14:11:21 pm »
How many times a day should you offer fruit once solids are established?? DS is on 3 meals a day and I always give him some sort of fruit puree with his cereal for breakfast.  Should I be doing more than that? His two other meals are mainly veg and we just started slowly introducing chicken for some more protein.   TIA!

Jen my DD is on a 3 meal solid as well I give her fruit in the morn as well

but on you question only want to remind you most of the nutrients go to the baby through the milk and solids before first year are more of a add on than the primary source!

My LO is 11 months old and doing 3 solid meals, and I always just give fruit after every meal instead of dessert. A couple of pieces of banana, a couple of raspberries, whatever. Just something sweet and fun to eat with fingers after meals. Sometimes I'll give him some banana or pear for his afternoon snack as well.

I tend to do fruit for pudding too, and sometimes in with cereal (banana) too ... often mix it with plain yoghurt or something.

I do fruit at pretty much every meal too, with cereal for breakfast and as dessert for lunch and dinner.  FWIW, I avoid prunes, peaches, pears, etc. at dinner time as they are more laxative fruits.  We were having some 4am pooping problems, but when I switched to bananas, applesauce, blueberries, etc. at dinner time they cleared up :)
