Will I EVER stop leaking at night?
« on: November 18, 2009, 15:16:39 pm »
I was just wondering if anyone else has the problem of oversupply at night? I have to pump every night if my 7.5mo LO doesn't feed once or twice, even then I am usually over full in the morning!  The problem is I only wake up if I am leaking, everynight this happens! Any advice?

Hi JayLeigh :)

Are you pumping a full feed when you pump at night?  Just wondering because that may actually be prolonging your leaking.  Because breastfeeding is a supply and demand process, by pumping through the night you're signaling your breasts that they need to make milk at this time.  Have you tried pumping just enough to ease the pressure that you feel?  By doing this, you would essentially be slowly weaning yourself from the pump.  You will still likely be very full in the morning, and even still leak a bit, but it should decrease for you once your body realizes that milk is not needed at that time.
