I have no idea what to do....my little girl for the past month or so has been very difficult while feeding her solids. I cross my fingers before I put her in her high chair, yet most of the time as soon as I begin to place her in it she stars to cry.  Sometimes I can distract her with a toy, and sneak bites in her an there, but most of the time after I get half way through the meals, she starts really crying. No toy, no finger food/cracker helps.  I have noticed one thing, she gets a ton of bubbles, so a lot of times she has to burp, which does help, but not always.  I'm confused as to if this is a medical issue, perhaps reflux, swallowing problem, or if she's picky and doesn't like some of the food I give her, or if she doesn't like being in her high chair... I just don't know...
Has anyone else gone through this? or does anyone have any suggestions?

My lo went through a phase during which she cried and refused solids. In her case she had a bit of a cold and was possible teething. in the end I gave her a complete break from solids for a few days, tried again when she was a biit better and she started eating again quite well. I also started making hher some more interesting food as she had been on single fruit/veg purees and I think she found them a bit boring!

We also went through a phase like this with DS. Teething was part of it but also I was trying to feed him when he was too tired and he couldn't cope so we adjusted the routine a bit and it worked better - it was a while ago so I really can't remember how we adjusted things now :-\

Hugs to you.

Could you list the items you are feeding her?  When are you feeding her?  Is she comfortable in the high chair?  Does she reach for the food (finger food) if you place it on her plate?  Is she teething?

I nurse at 7am solids at 8:30am yogurt, oatmeal cereal w/prune and a few cheerios she grabs off her tray(seems to like to pick and grab those-I definitely get more mileage when she's distracted with finger foods but it's not always the answer)
AI nurse her again at 11am and then solids at 12:30pm. Lunch consists of peas and carrots mixed, squash, cottage cheese, apple sauce, rice cake, little pieces of cheese
nurse her again at 3pm and then solids at 5pm(dinner is her worst-she's fussiest then-and it's b/c sh eis so tired. you see I have another question I posted in the "sleep" section about how she only naps 30 minutes each time, she's a HORRIBLE napper-so I'm sure fatigue is a big part of it). For dinner I give her chicken and potatoes, w/zucchini, and then peaches, pears apples all mixed together.
She takes anywhere from 5-8oz of solids per feed.  IS 8 oz too much? Am I over feeding her?  My first daughter was a small eater and only ate 4-5 oz at this age, but this girl was over 9 lbs when she was born and eats a ton all the time.
Should I cut out a nursing?  I know it's getting clsoe to the time when I should anyways...
The highchair is fine in terms of comfort, I've tried it more laid back and more erect, not sure which position is better in terms of swallowing  less air so she doesn't burp so much and get these painful bubbles.
and YES she is teething-but how long does teetihng pain last?  Her feeding fussiness has been going on for almost a month-surely it can't last that long? :-\ Or could it?

The tireness and teething can deter los from eating.  With the teething, you can try to offer some pain relieve about 30 min before  meals.   Try to get extend her naps as I found that this can really help with eating.  Rested = more willingness to eat (not always but it doesn't hurt to try).  As the finger food, it's fine to let her play with them while you are feeding her.  It is very natural for her to want to explore her food.  You may even see that she will soon want to be a self-feeder.  Frees up a lot of mommy time.   ;)  Finally, 5-8 oz of solids per meal is a lot but some los have big appetite.  I don't like to comment too much on quantity if los loves to eat and the milk intake is still fairly decent then just follow their feeding cues.

Right now, I wouldn't cut back on the bm but maybe adjust the feeding the times so she is not too tire to eat.  In the meantime, work on the extending the naps.  Some moms found that sitting their los in the bumble seats or on their laps or the exersaucer (not bouncing ones) works at this age until they can sit upright properly.

Teething pains varies.  Some teeth cut very quickly and painlessly while others take  f o r e v e r.   ::)
