sure...thanks for your help...here was our routine yesterday:
E - 8:15
A -
S - 9:30 - 10am, woke, gave him the pacifier, went back to sleep until 10:45
E - 11
A -
S - 12:00, had to wake him at 12:45 to go get my 2 yr old from school...although he rarely sleeps more than 45 minutes straight, so it was likely he would have woken on his own.
S - catnapped in the car while we drove back home
E - 2:15
A -
S - put him in the swing while i went to go put my 2 yr old to bed and came back at 3pm and he was asleep. moved him into the crib and of course he only slept 30 or 45 minutes and was back up crying. i gave him his pacifier which didn't work as he was back up crying again 10 minutes later, finally moved him into the swing to get a good nap. turned the swing off and he woke up on his own at 5pm
E - 5:15
A -
S - 6:15 was falling asleep in my arms, put him in the crib and he slept for 45 minutes
A - bath
E - 8:15
S - 8:45,
DF - 11:30pm
woke at 2:30, gave him his paci and he immediately went back to sleep, woke at 4:30 to eat, slept till 7:15, gave him his pacifier as my goal wake time is not until 8, so he fell back asleep and i'll wake him at 8 if he's not already awake.
he rarely sleeps more than 30-45 minutes at a time. if i can get him to sleep for a full hour or two it is because i've gone in and helped him back to sleep..usually by offering the pacifier.
the paci may be the problem, but at night if he wakes in the middle of the night, he will easily take the paci and go back to sleep without problems. just can't figure out why he wakes up in his naps once he realizes the paci is out of his mouth.
the short naps are killing me b/c i have my 2 yr old to keep up with and desperately need some rest myself as well as some one on one time with my 2 year old while my baby is napping.
i've tried the shh/patt and he doesn't take well to being put over my shoulder while i do the patting and shhing. he likes to be cradeled in my arms. our naptime routine is swaddle, rock for a few minutes with paci while his eyes are batting and then off to the crib while his eyes are shutting.
