5mth old waking constantly at night
« on: December 08, 2009, 10:34:34 am »
Hey all, just discovered this site after reading the Baby whisperer last night! just hoping you can help

Our DD is 5mths, she goes down no problem at night time and had started to sleep through the night but then she started teething about four weeks ago really badly so we were in and out to her and giving her a soother during the night which I had not done before, now I think she's gotten used to waking up and looking for it. Tried sushing her to sleep last night but didn't really work, any ideas on how I can teach her to sleep unaided again???

Thanks

Sorry just read what I should put into the post when looking for advice so here goes.

Normally DD is up at 8am
8am - Bottle
10am - sleep for half hour to hour and a half
12 - veg and bottle
1.30/2 - sleep for two hours
4pm - Bottle
5/5.30 - fruit and baby rice
6 - 6.20 - nap
8pm - Bottle in her room with her music and goes off to sleep by herself in the cot

Sleep routine is very good, she goes down no problem. During the day she sleeps in her pram with her soother and blankie teddy (only way I could get her not to sleep on my chest! She just holds onto it and rubs it. Never had it at nighttime and never needed it.

Emmmmmmmm can't remember what else I should've put down, hope that helps. She's a very content baby during the day and once the soother goes in at night she settles but could wake up again a half hour later. Normally it starts around 1.30 at night. I tend to take her into the bed then around six as i'm so tired but she'll still wake looking for the soother.

Thanks a million for your insight Jane, just looking at it there and it seems she gets less A time at the first part of the day and the end of the day she has much more so i'll try to spread this out. With regards the milk, thats great, I've been trying to figure out what way to do this, so I'll give her a bottle at 12 and then her solids after. Presume I'll do the same when I introduce breakfast?
