1 hr naps- 13 week old--ok??
« on: December 21, 2009, 19:18:51 pm »
after several weeks of most of the naps being 45 mins we are now having most naps at 55 min or 1 hour? he wakes cranky most of the time but wont go back...are hour naps an A time thing we are 13 weeks and are awake for 1.5 hours for almost all A times except the last 1-2 A times of the day where a cat nap is in between and then a bedtime we are at 1 hr 45 mins there...goes down at night no problem.

these hour naps he seems to be ok at first then gets really cranky am worried he has to eat earlier to get back to sleep and thus last night has several NW which could also be a growth spurt but that is another story...are 1 hour naps normal at this age BW says 20-30 min naps OT and 45 min naps can be UT or OT but what about 55 min or 1 hour naps?

routine something like this we are bf

awake and eat 745ish bf
sleep 915 usually 1 hour
eat 1045 bf
sleep 1140ish usally 1 hour
eat 130 bf
sleep usually 2 hours
eat 415 expressed bm 4-5 oz
sleep 515-600
eat 715 expressed bm 4-5 oz
eat between 2/3 on a good night last night not so good but it wasnt hunger thats another story
eat either 6ish back to bed til 745 or eat 7ish and that is wake time for the day we are currently trying to figure this out as a 11.5-12 hour sleep phase suits his best

thanks! happy holidays!

Hi Kaynay, if your LO can handle 1hr 45mins at the last A time perhaps he can handle it earlier in the day as well? an hour sleep can be either UT or OT depending on your LO, usually if they wake up and are crying, irritable etc it means they need more sleep, if they wake up happy then its an UT nap. Ideally you want a 12 hour day and 12 hour night, i wouldnt be looking at anything less at his age.
