This is my third lo. We did EASY with both of my girls and now we are doing the same with this one, but I cannot understand why this nighttime issue does not get fixed. I think that, since birth, this kid has woken up and either cried or grunted from 12:30 a.m. until wake time (6:30). It makes it impossible for me to figure out when he needs to eat and when he is just having some other issue. As a result, I've settled on feeding him twice between 12:30 and 6:30, but not more than that and also not less than that although I feel he is never really hungry when I go to feed him (am nursing). I will post schedule/routine below with notes. Also, I should say that I have him sleeping in his carseat (which is placed in the crib) b/c I originally believed he had reflux or something like that. I also tried antacids, but there was no change at all so I stopped that, but kept the carseat going.
6:30 E (usually awake for at most one hour and goes for nap in carseat about 7:30)
9:30 E (A for about one hour again or maybe only 40 minutes. He usually cries out at somewhere between 11:00 and 12:00, but gets himself back to sleep in less than 10 minutes so I let him be. Is most often asleep at 12:15.)
12:15 E (A usually only until about 1:00, but maybe 1:10. Usually cries somewhere between 2:15 and 2:45. He has trouble getting himself back to sleep during this nap so I usually end up either holding him to try to get his thumb in his mouth (hoping to teach this) or give paci to get him to end of nap. I did this with my girls at this age and it worked to teach them the EASY routine and did not turn into AP.)
3:15 E (A usually until about 4:00 or earlier. Often cries hard around 5:00, but get self back to sleep. Wakes again about 5:30 and I give paci until E time)
5:50 E, bath and bed by about 6:20
7:30 Cluster feed (pumped bottle) - starting to eliminate this as of last night b/c wondering if this is getting in the way of good df
10:00 DF (pumped bottle)
You know what happens after this. Help! Oh, I do not give paci at the beginning of S time as I do not like the idea of using a paci to get to sleep. Also, will not use paci in the night. My only exception is that, after 5:00 a.m., I will give paci to get him to 6:30 if things are out of control. Who knows if my rules makes sense, but I do not like the paci so I try to use it sparingly. Once they can suck their thumb, I get rid of it completely.
