NWs - Would you feed? Would you introduce solids?
« on: December 30, 2009, 22:43:04 pm »
I am just reading Tracy's chapter on introducing solids and I'm a little confused as to what to do...

My LO was 3 weeks early, but he seems totally ready for food:  he's 16 lbs, chewing on a spoon, lost tongue pushing reflex, eats 40+oz a day, seems hungry after 3 hours, etc...  I am hesitant to start him on solids before 6 months...

He wakes twice a night (sometimes only once) and takes a full bottle - 7-8 oz. at both NWs.  Tracy says not to feed - which I can try - but I feel like he'll have a meltdown...  Do you think he needs the food or should I try to stop it?

Would you introduce solids to see if maybe he genuinely needs more food?

Thank you!

I personally would NOT consider solids at this point, especially since your LO was 3 weeks early. Since he's taking a full bottle at night it's genuine hunger which is not at all unusual at his age, even if you don't consider that he was early.
