20 weekold routine
« on: January 07, 2010, 13:47:20 pm »
Hi, can anyone please post me a routine for my 20week old, at the moment its
E 5:45am 7oz formula
S 6am -8:15
A
S 10:30 for 45mins
y
E 10:45 7oz formula (only takes 3/4oz if given before)
A
S 1pm for 1.5/2hours
Y
E 2:45
A
S...he doesn't go down at all now until 7??
E 6:45
A
S 7pm

i'm sure he's OT as sometimes it takes ages for him to settle at night. I then DF at 10:30 and he goes til around 3am (with paci put bk in 2/3 times)

i then feed him 4-6ish when he takes 7oz
I'm sure my routine is absolutely useless and am desperate for help, he goes to sleep during the day swaddled with ome arm free and a paci in. Usually pretty much asleep in minutes.

At 4.5 months an 'ideal' routine might go like this
7am awake, milk
9am nap, 2hrs
11am awake, milk
1pm nap, 2hrs
3pm awake, milk
5pm catnap, 45mins
6.15pm awake
6.45pm last milk
7pm asleep for the night
10.30pm dreamfeed

many thanks, i tried the routine yesterday, he went down at 7:15 after 5mins shhing, he then woke at 9:30 for dummy. I then df at 10;30 when he settled quickly (he is still in our room) he then woke at 2:30am screaming, wouldn't take the dummy and no ammount of sshhhing and patting would settle him (i also have a 2yr old to consider) I ended up feeding him 2oz formula, he then calmed and eventually slept from 3:45am, he then woke again at 5am and finally at 6:45am when he took 6oz....help! where am i going wrong? i am trying to decrease dummy use, he no longer has it except sleeps in the hope he will find his fingers, im also slowly introducing a lovey.

Honestly I don't think you are doing anything wrong! One night feed in addition to the dreamfeed is totally normal at this age! If he is waking for the dummy you could choose to wean it? It often becomes a problem around 4-5 months.

its also the classic "my 1st child was sleeping 7-7 from 15weeks" so i suppose i expected Charlie to be the same. My OH is insistant that he needs  food and this will cure it, I disagree as he only drank 5x7oz bottles for the 1st time ever yesterday. I am also wondering if maybe last nights 2:30am waking maybe due to a "growth spurt?" i really don't know anymore....after 6weeks of broken sleep you doubt your own abilities to judge!
