Night time bottle
« on: February 15, 2010, 16:03:35 pm »
Hello to all

I´m the mom of a spirited-angel, two and a half years old.
i´m pleased that i've managed to reduce her dummy use to night time only and we are slowly weening it off... Generally when i peek on her at night she hasnt got it in her mouth, i think she likes the cloth nappy that its tied onto  ;) :D

My question to other moms is..when did your little ones stop having their night time bottle, and how did you "rule" it out?  In Nazarés case, it is so much part of her night time routine, that i´m not too sure How and When I should start fasing it out.

Any suggestions?  thank you in advance  :-*

When we were ready to wean DD we slowly reduced the amount in her bottle until eventually there was only 1 oz left.  After that we just didn't give it to her.  Good luck :D!

We dropped our nighttime bottle pretty early but only b/c I wanted to do teeth brushing before bed and not having any milk right before bed. I just switched up our whole routine for a bit. Did milk in a sippy cup downstairs and then PJs on downstairs...say goodnight to daddy etc. Then up, brush teeth, story and snuggle...then into crib. She didn't even notice the bottle was missing b/c she had her milk already downstairs and wasn't hungry feeling. However, she was on the young side so that might be why she didn't "notice" as well.

I ended up putting PJs on upstairs again after a week or so.

With both girls we switched the bedtime milk to being served with supper by 15 months or so. Then I used a sippy of water at bedtime, so they still had a drink, but we could brush teeth before the whole story/bed routine instead of after.  They are pretty good eaters and get a full serving of milk at supper and have never mentioned being hungry at bedtime, so the water does the trick.

I am with you. I have changed the am bottle to a sippy but we still have a bottle at bedtime and I am looking at changing this by the time he is 18 months...so got 2 months. I think I am going to do usual routine and then when he is changed and ready for bed we will  do sippy with a story (if he will sit still!) and then do teeth, cuddles and bed. That is the plan anyway. Keep us posted as to how you get on x
