Yogurt
« on: March 02, 2010, 18:18:42 pm »
I tried giving ds yogurt today, mixed it with an apple cube & some cinnamon, but he just wouldn't near it..:(

Any tips on how I can introduce it in a way that he'll like?

Was it a case that he spit it out or just wasn't interested? (Rule out that he just wasn't hungry at that point in time). You could try mixing it with his favorite food, maybe just a small amount, then each time add more yogurt. The only thing with this is that he might get used to eating his yogurt sweet and later only like flavoured yogurt (which is very high in sugar). With my dd I gave her plain yogurt and just kept offering it and she ended up loving it and never eating the flavoured stuff.

mmm, he wasn't interested, @ all..!

So, you kept offering plain yogurt with nothing in it & your dd eventually took it?

Same hear - plain 5% yogurt.  Usually I put it on the side with avocado puree for lunch or supper.
In the am, I usually make up a bowl with a frozen fruit cube thawed first, yogurt, and a bit of cereal - but not mixed.  Then some bites are single food, some combos, and she's always gone for the plain yogurt just fine (started at 7 months).
I accidently bought french vanilla instead of plain, and she sure did like it.  She's had spoonfuls of flavored yogurt from my bowl too and gobbled it up.

Yes, she took the plain. Good point brought up by marilyn73, use the higher fat % stuff, it makes a big difference in taste and texture, tastes very much like sour cream.
