Weaning night feedings and milk supply dwindling!
« on: March 16, 2010, 20:38:40 pm »
Hi, Today is the 5th day I've been doing PUPD with my daughter who's almost 6 months.  Previously she'd woken up every 1-2 hours in the night and nursed back to sleep (she's always nursed to sleep until now).  Since I started PUPD with her I've been letting her feed only if it's been 4-5 hours since her last feed.  Now I'm finding my milk supply has drastically decreased and she's not getting full feeds. Is this common when people start weaning excessive night feeding?  I'm trying to get her to suck more during the day to increase the supply/demand but she's not that interested.   She hasn't started on solids yet, but we'll introduce those soon.  I really want to keep breast feeding! Thanks for any help.

I should also mention that we're both sick with a cold -- her first illness.  Could that also be a factor?

After a few days of pumping after she fed things seem back to normal now...
