Is it ok to combine fruit purees and formula in one meal
« on: April 09, 2010, 22:12:34 pm »
Hi, I am new to this forum. My baby is almost 6 months.

Is it ok to give him fruit purees (or vegetable) and then let him finish with formula? Won't this upset his tummy. I know that for us older people, combining plums, for example, with milk, is a no no. Or do all moms do this?

What about combining fruit with cereal that has formula in it? It has milk content, so won't this cause the safe effect?

Sorry, I meant the "same" effect.

Hmmm . . . I breastfed, but I never worried about separating breastfeeds from feeding fruit.  I wasn't aware that this was a concern for adults either, to be honest.  I've quit consuming milk in the past year or two, but prior to that didn't hesitate to combine them and didn't get an upset tummy.

Interested to hear what others think. :)

Maybe you are right. I just know that eating a raw plum and drinking milk would probably cause upset stomach. Maybe pureed fruits are cooked.. well if it's ok then great! Less confusion.

by the way :) I also heard, actually just today, that you can mix the formula with solids without dilutig it with water first!...for it all get mixed in the stomach... I honestly prefer to have the formula diluted with water instructed first before mixing it to the solids.
