Help With Constant CHanging A Time
« on: May 27, 2010, 16:32:50 pm »
Hi,
My son is 8 months old. His A time seems to be changing by the day and I can't find out where he is at right now. He had only been at 3 hour A time for a few weeks, then I just started 3.15 about a week or so ago when I was getting shorter naps. Now, the 3.15 only gets me 1.15 hour naps so I tried 3.5 hours and it gave me short nap, I went back to 3.15 and it still was a 1.15 hour nap and today I tried 3.5 again and he had a 1.15 nap. Do I need to increase to more than 3.5 when he hadn't been at the 3.5 level yet (or maybe I missed it trying to figure it out)? It seems to be changing by the week, is this common at this age?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Was he doing a full 1.5h+ nap with the 3h15 A time and then suddenly the naps got shorter?  What is he acting like when he wakes up at the 1h15 mark?

Yes, he was doing the 1.5plus hours on 3 hrs 15 min A time and then they got short- to 1hr and 15 mins....he was only at the 3.15 A time for literally like a week or so. He seems a bit tired at the 1.15 mark- lays in his crib still but won't go back to sleep. Usually he is up playing in his crib after a full nap. If I get him up at that time without APOP to make him go back to sleep he does OK- maybe a little more crabby at time but not unbearable.

I'd say that he's ready for another A time increase.  Maybe not much since it'd only been a week since it was last upped...maybe 5-10 minutes.  How have the past couple of days gone?

I think 3.20 might be the sweet spot- seemed to be working today. The weekend it was hard to tell b/c we were traveling so a lot of naps were in the car and I didn't know the exact times. So, I will keep trying 3.20 for the next couple of days and see if that's what works! I will keep you posted...thanks!!!!
