9 months - early wakeups!
« on: June 24, 2010, 18:50:17 pm »
i am so so so so tired!
we have been lucky emily has been pretty much a textbook / spiritied baby from her first few weeks of life and baby whisperering. never had any real sleep issues before and was a perfect EASY baby. this past month i have gone back to work, she is in nursery and has also started crawling, standing etc!!!  i knew sleep would be a bit disturbed but the one thing i would like to tackle is her early wakings as it is affecting my day in work now too.  it is not at exacxtly the same time each day so didn't think wake to sleep would work. she can wake anywhere between 4.30 - 6am just playful and chatty. we leave her for as long as poss but as she is now crawling around her cot and standing she gets into a state as she bangs her head or gets her feet and arms stuck between the bars, so i can't really leave her for too long as it is dangerous!
it has been going on for a few weeks now most days. strangely after the weekend we always have to wake her up on a monday morning the only time she wants to lie in!
i think she sleeps alot longer in nursery than she does at home as it is so warm in  there she has about 45 min in morning and between 1.5 / 2 hrs in afternoon. at home at weekends she has about 45 mins in morning and only about 1 hr in afternoon but then has a catnap around 4.30 for 20 mins.

any ideas?

Could you post her EASY - one for nursery days and one for non-nursery days, if there is a big difference - and we will see if anything jumps out as a reason.  EWs can be OT or UT, so it's hard to say what the culprit is without knowing exactly what her day looks like.

Also, does she have any props - dummy/pacifier, rock to sleep etc?  That can start to cause havoc at this age.  And is she teething?  That was a major cause of EWs for dd2, so could be a factor.
