15 months - one nap only 1 hour without re-settling???
« on: June 26, 2010, 04:48:39 am »
Hi,

It would be great if I can get your opinion on my daughter's nap pattern. We have gone to one sleep a day since a couple of weeks (after coming back from overseas and when she was completely out of her 2 nap routine).

She goes down really well at around 12.30/1pm (wake up at 7am) and then sleeps for an hour, then starts to cry. I then go in and can re-settle her in her cot and after 15 min she is asleep again for 30min to an hour (so a total of 1.5 - 2 hrs nap). I just wonder if I should keep going in re-settling (and if that will help her to sleep through the whole nap without waking up) or if that will get her into the habit that mummy will come in eventually to help her to sleep again. She sleeps 11 hours at night.
Also, can I expect her to sleep longer and longer eventually (just reading about 3 hour naps around here...)?

Thanks heaps for your responses.
Cheers Bri

Hi there Bri, just popping this over to the toddler sleep board :)

just wanted to also say that we were in the same position as you at that age, we still dont get three hour naps, its 1 hour 45mins at the most, but on average 1.5 hours, i just accepted that. I think if you are resettling her and she continues to sleep then shes a bit OT, what do you think about making her first A time a bit less? 5.5/6 hours A time is a bit much at this age, we have only just hit 5.5 hours and Caleb has high A times for his age

Hello  :)

Just wondering if you have tried putting her down a bit earlier?  Some lo's seem to prefer a slightly shorter A time in the morning and this actually helps them to sleep longer.  So perhaps 5 hours after she wakes. Might be worth trying this to rule it out.

I agree with the previous posts!  I'd try for the nap at 12 to 12:15 pm and see if that helps her to sleep straight through without needing to be resettled.  Interrupted naps usually mean a little OT for my DD.

Hello, thanks for the replies. Really appreciate your advice and thinking about it now, it makes very much sense. I will definitly try for the earlier nap and see what happens! We also just got two more teeth, so I guess its all together again :)
Will kepp you posted and thanks again!
