When will nap disturbance end? At wits end
« on: July 21, 2010, 08:32:29 am »
Hi
Im just looking for some reassurance when these nap wakenings will end.
I have been through this before with DD1 ,it was a rocky road that improved somewhat at 5 months but  would like others experiences.

DD2 is 14 weeks and since 6 weeks will wake during naps , at 30 mins or 35 or  40 or 50 .If we get past that then it may be a 1.5 hr nap.

She is an independent sleeper , no paci (DD1 was dependent). She was self settling  most of the time but getting worse in last week.

Change of A time seems not to help and even when A time was spot on there would still be stirring at some point. On 3 hr easy A time is aprox 1.20-1.25

Please can people let me know when their LOs began to sleep through naps?????
I am at my wits end and need some reassurance .
Thanks

This might give you some insight into the short naps and a possible solution. Since you don't use a paci you would use HTTJ (hold thru the jolt) instead, but same idea.  http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=649.0

Thanks Deb, I remember reading that one with DD1 .
Problem is HTTJ isn't practical if awakenings are so random and I have a very vocal toddler who would not be very tolerant.

I know from my previous experience that things do eventually slot into place ,and when she is  4 months I will extend A time (I am sure she is not ready for it now)

I suppose I am just looking for a consensus , do naps improve at the 4 hr  EASY change or do they just improve at about 5 months anyway??

Hi there, we didn't have nap consistency until 7.5 mths - and even then it only lasted until the next nap transition known as the 2-1 that started at 9.5 mths.  So I'm not telling you this to scare you :-), only to emphasize that it's really a bit of both, routine and development and that it's so different for all LOs.

She sounds Spirited, have you taken the quiz?

I can tell you that it does get better, for most, by the time they are on 1 nap.  But on average, 6-7 mths seems to be the age where they have figured out their day sleep.
The tweaking never stops!
