Mashi, I am well aware that many moms make the choice to formula feed instead of bf with or without an allergy (?? isn't this common knowledge?). My point was simply that doctor's all around need to give all the correct information to a bfing mom with a baby that has allergies so that they can make a decision based on facts when they are deciding to either continue to bf OR switch to Neocate. My first 2 doctors told me I had to give Neocate- they did not tell me that bfing was still on option with an adjusted diet. For this post, I think she was talking specifically Neocate and babies with allergies to regular formula or something in breast milk, I don't think the original poster was talking about regular formula or babies without allergies.
It's an individual choice and no one has a right to make that decision except for the mom. I do have to say I think it's disgusting that there is pressure to feel guilty for the ffing mom and I think it's equally ridiculous that we put bfing moms on such a pedestal, I mean really, we're bfing, not walking on the moon or finding a cure for cancer, YKWIM? It never fails, that a discussion on feeding does get into a debate, it's sad that it's moms that often start this debate.
