hello! so, my youngest, samuel has been a 12 hour night sleeper for a long time. his bedtime has been 6:30pm and he would always sleep until 6:30am. a couple of months ago he started waking up before 6:00, so i simply cut his nap from 3.5 hours down to 2.5 hours and that did the trick. about a week ago he went from sleeping until 6:30am to sleeping until 6:00am. that didn't really bother me much since his older brother gets up at 6:00 anyhow. but the past 3 mornings he's been up around 5:30am. last night i put him to bed at 7:00 instead of 6:30, thinking that if he only needs 11 hours at night, then perhaps 7:00 should be his new bedtime. do you want to guess what happened? yep, he was up even earlier than before! at 5:00am he was happily chatting in his crib. he was happy until 5:30 and then started crying for me to go pick him up. i ended up nursing him just to see if he would get sleepy again, but he was wide awake and ready to start the day.
here is our EASY:
6:00-wake and breakfast
10:30- lunch
11:00-1:30- nap (i almost always have to wake him up from it)
2:00- snack
5:00- dinner
6:00- bath, BF and in bed by 6:30
thanks in advance for your suggestions! i'm not looking for him to "sleep in" per se, i'd just really love it if he could sleep until at least 6:00 in the morning. the difference between 5:30 and 6:00 seems so huge when you're awakened that early!
