These NW are driving me CRAZY!!!
« on: August 18, 2010, 18:27:46 pm »
Where do I begin?! After about 2 months of BW, things seem to be getting worse now, not better. We're back to NW, early wakings, getting to sleep struggles, etc....
I don't know what else to do anymore. DD woke at 4 this morning and stayed awake, screaming bloody murder, until about 5:30. I tried Pu/Pd, which honestly has never really worked for us. I gave her a small bottle and eventually she tired of crying and went back to sleep. She's becoming increasingly more difficult to put down for naps, especially as the day goes on. She doesn't show any signs of being tired and seems like she can go go go! I'm pretty sure what she wanted at 4 am this morning was her mommy to come be with her. When I touch her, she settles, of course. Usually, to get her to sleep, I have to rub her or touch her and she probably now needs this to get to sleep but I don't know what to do anymore. I'm tired all of the time and can't see the light at the end of the tunnel.
She sleeps a maximum of 2 hours a day and I can't get that extended. She wakes frequently thoughout the night and instantly sits up in her crib and cries for me.
Help!

Hi Violets Mum

Hugs to you.  How old is your DD?  Mine DS is nearly 8months, and we've been having EWs getting earlier and more frequent over last couple of months, and NWs over last week.  I am convinced this is developmental stage, maybe coinciding with nearly crawling, as friends' LOs have gone through same thing at this age, and other Mum's on here are having it too.

The not seeming tired and seeming like she can just 'go and go' is possibly a sign of OT - my DS gets like this when he is OT - he is like the duracell bunny!  He gets more and more hyper and very over excited.

I love your picture - what a cutie though!  Oh - just saw that your DD is around 7.5 months - exactly when my EWs and NWs got worse!

Any teething happening?  Please post your EASY routine.  Hope you have a better night tonight. :)

Hello again Violet's mum!
Our babies sound like they would be good friends.  My DD is exactly the same as yours.  It's downright discouraging.  Makes me feel like I must be doing something wrong even though I've been trying my hardest to follow BW since DD was born.
All I want is to sleep for more than 4 hours at a time.   Heck I'll take 3 hours consecutively!
We had 2 30 minute naps today, which seems to be the routine now.
I can't offer any advice but I can say I know how you feel.  It seems like decent sleep is an impossibility for now.  Somehow we push on and keep trying!

I agree,I feel like things have got worse instead of better too, we did get some great, consistent naps, but now all lover the place and back to NW sometimes for 2hrs at a time...some teetrhing too i think but still, with some pain relief shouldntthat help??
I agree Lucysmommy, my DS now takes 3-4 naps a day of anywhere from 35mins-50mins..tried increasing/decreasing A time no love im afraid.
and as for 30min naps being OT im not always convinced anymore as sometimes after that he is fresh as a daisy...
I do get about 7hrs straight at night, but by the time im in bed i get about 4,but i used to get 12!!!!!!!!!so i dont knlow either but you arent alone!!

Oh, things are getting even worse. She's been crying for 20 minutes now that I'm trying to get her down for a nap. I've tried everything, even AP but she just doesn't want to sleep. She's outright protesting now. I don't know what to do anymore...I'm really at the end of my rope and wondering what I did to deserve this or what I could have done to make her this way. None of my friend's babies are like this and they just don't understand. I'm tired and hungry.

HI there Violet's mum, can you please post up your routine so we can see what LO is doing in terms of night sleep and naps.  Is she teething?  If so how are you dealing with the teething? Does she have any props (other than needing you)?  How is she during the day other than fighting naps - tired, cranky or just go go go?

Let's take a look.
The tweaking never stops!
