supply affected from EASY????
« on: September 14, 2010, 13:58:19 pm »
DD is 3 months and I have just started a new EASY with her...her big feeds are 3.5 hrs apart but I top her off before naps and cluster feed before bed...yesterday I didn't feel full at all, all day?  Has anyone else experienced anything like this?  Maybe going from "feeding on demand" to the 3.5 is affecting my supply?  I have always been very full before feeds and seem to have an overabundance of milk but it seems less the last 2 days...

It's possible that your body is adjusting to her needs and you won't always feel "full."  Also, keep in mind that EASY isn't a tight schedule, but a routine - so don't just feed because the clock says it's been 3.5 hrs.  If she's hungry at 3, feed her then.  If it's 3 hr 15 min, feed her.  The 3.5 hrs is a guideline to how long "most" bubs can go at her age.  Many bf bubs do not go as long between feeds as formula fed bubs do.  But also, keep in mind that your body does adjust in terms of milk production.  As long as she's eating well, producing enough "output" and growing normally, I wouldn't be worried at all about your production.

Thanks Michelle for your reply...I had a difficult time BF my older DD so I worry lots about it this time around, though everything has been going really well.  I pumped last night before bed (making a store in freezer for cereal, etc...) and felt fuller this morning but I need to get over the "only if I feel full do I have enough milk"... ::)

thanks again

Michele
