TWINS(4.5mo) - Sleeping Arrangements
« on: October 15, 2010, 12:38:58 pm »
Our twins have been co-sleeping (with each other, in their bassinet) basically since we got home from the hospital.  They nap during the day apart, and we don't seem to have much separation anxiety.  We would like to move them out of our room and into theirs.  I am looking for thoughts on whether people kept their twins together in one room, put them in separate rooms, one crib or two.  As well as how you made the transition successful.

Thanks!
Eli

My boys are 17.5mo now and they sleep in the same room at nighttime but seperate rooms at naptime. They only started napping seperatly in the last few months as they were disturbing each other but we have no problems with them overnight. They shared a cot until they were 9mo and they actually slept better apart as they were rolling over on each other etc. Their cots are side by side so they can see each other and when they wake they have a good chatter, giggle and have even taken to swapping toys ;D

Personally I would transfer them into their own room together as it is what they are used to so may help the transition, maybe start at naptime for a while so they are used to their room before you try a night. HTH Niki x

our twins slept in a bassinett together until only 5 wks at which point they were driving each other crazy.  then then slept in their own cribs about two armslengths apart in the same room for nights and naps, went to toddler beds in the same room and just recently got their own rooms at almost 3.5yrs.

i would for sure put them in their own room together - that familiarity is good for them but don't worry about putting them in separate cribs,  especially if they disturb each other's sleep while together.
