What is normal for 8 mo?
« on: October 18, 2010, 21:16:33 pm »
I have just adopted a 8mo dd Katrina.  She has been doing relatively well.  She screams a lot, although I heard this is common for adoptees that were not placed at birth.  (She had been with her birth mother until now)

My issue is trying to get her on a schedule.  She was never on a schedule of any sort for anything. She seems fine in the am with what we've been doing. I'll post what yesterday was like. There's not much of a normal yet as we haven't even had her one week.

awake: 7:45am
nap (at church) 11:00-12:00
nap (at home) 3-5pm
asleep 7:30pm

My issue is that she gets extremely tired and fussy at about 6pm and will scream (and I mean scream not cry) until she goes to bed.

Today we tried things a bit different and we're not sure how they'll work yet.  We are trying her with 3 naps.  Today's schedule so far:

awake 7:45
fell asleep in Target at 10:00 for about 20 minutes
nap 11:45-1:45
nap 4:30 and is still sleeping

I am trying to aviod the total meltdown at 6 until she is in bed.  BTW she sleeps usually through the night.  Sometimes she'll wake once for a bottle, but the past 2 nights it has been straight through.

This baby was crying for a schedule.  I am surprised it is coming along so quickly.

Check that link out, it will give you an idea of what is typical. It will take her some time for her to adjust to a routine but she will get there :)
