2.9 YO NW 4-5 nights a week
« on: October 29, 2010, 14:13:28 pm »
ODS has STTN since about age 1, with occasional NW. He was in a BBB since age 2, sibling came at 2.3 YO and we had some NW that I am sure were related. I can't really pinpoint how long this has been going on, the NW but they usually happen btwn 11-2, sometimes can last throughout the night. I think multiple things wake him (has to go potty- which I am fine with- he was going potty, then going right back to bed, but other times he will say his leg hurts, he wants me to lay with him) I think that he has shin pain sometimes and now that is his excuse because a few nights ago I am sure he woke because the wind was so loud and he came running saying his leg hurts. When I said I think you are fine, he said, I dont want you to go I am scared of the wind.

What I guess I am saying is I am fine with the occasional NW, potty, scared of the weather, etc. But when its multiple times for undetermined reasons (probably habit of wanting us to lay with him or come in our bed, SA) I dont know how to remedy this.
We are working on getting YDS (7 mo old) to STTN so some nights I literally run from one bedroom to the other and I am exhaused. DH and I alternate nights and on his nights I sleep in another room (I have insomnia so its really hard for me to get back to sleep once awake) ODS ends up in our bed cuz DH gets tired of the running.

What can I do?
He isnt ill, he isnt teething (Has his 2 yr molars and actually those came in with no problems).

Help I am so tired. Last night YDS STTN but ODS didnt so I still got no sleep. Plus I think i am AP, running to ODS becuase I didnt want him to wake YDS.

I really feel for you - I am in the same position. DD (3 in January) despite being a dreadful sleeper when she was a baby, started STTN then about 6 months ago, we had occasional NW. When DS arrived about 5 months ago, things were OK with NW once even couple of days, may be 3 times a week - but now we are at 3-4 NW per night every night. We have also transitioned to a BGB, have potty trained (although she does still where a nappy at night, she has most of her teeth. I have really no idea what is going on. I do know she has bad dreams and she has told me some weird stuff when she wakes up. But it is getting ridiculous as DS doesn't STTN yet either. I have been at a really low ebb because of being up with both of them.
We are trying a night light, so she can wake up and nnot be scared, and we may try reward charts after that, we are also investing in a bed guard as last night she fell out of bed..
Will let you know how we go.
Also have to tackle DS - think I am going ot have to go cold turkey with the night feedings.
