3 month old wont go down
« on: November 24, 2010, 02:59:25 am »
My 3 month old daughter hates going to bed! After fighting with her for hours in the past she would sleep.  At 2 months she was sleeping for 12 hour stretches regularly for two weeks.  It was approximately 7pm to 7am.  It was heaven!  At the time she ate approximately every two hours but sometimes she would take longer naps during the day and i would let her.

Now she not only doesn't want to go down but she keeps waking up. It's almost 10pm now and she has been in her bed sleeping, complaing and crying on and off since 7.  Plus she has been getting up a couple times during the night.  She only weighs 11 pounds and is only 3.5 months so I feed her when she gets up at 2am or 4am or 6am.

She does not have a great schedule because she sometimes naps up to three hours at a time (once a day at most) and this nap changes times, lately it's been her first nap in the morning (I think because she is so tired from the night).  Aside from that one nap she still gets really grumpy if she is up for more than 1 hour at a time.  Maybe all this is my fault because I usually keep her up for 2 hours before she goes to bed.  I'm tring to feed my 3 year old and my husband comes home late so it's really hard for me at that time.   If I don't let her stay up for 2 hours some nights she would be going down at 6... then what would I do?

I have also noticed that if she has a really bad night there is usually a bowel movement to be found in her diaper in the morning, is it possible her stomach is bothering her??

Any thoughts?  I want my nights back!

Can you post your daily routine please?

I can tell you now though that you really don't want her napping more than two hours at a time. More than 2 hours robs from night sleep and then you have problems like what you're experiencing.
