help with routine & catnap
« on: December 02, 2010, 01:16:25 am »
My DD is 4 and 1/2 months. She has started solids at 4 months, according to the new guidelines from the early childhood nurse.
Most days her routine is:

Her awake time is 2 hours.

E 5.30am 6oz and back to sleep
A 8am awake
E cereal and fruit, sometimes milk (6oz)
S 10 (2hr nap)
A 11.45am
E veggies and milk 8oz
S 2pm (1hr & 1/2 to 2 hr nap)
A 3.30-4pm
E nothing, she does not drink milk even if I offer the bottle
S she always fight this 30 min catnap, takes 10 min to put her down. Then I have to wake her up
E milk 8oz
S 8pm she is tired and her awake time is shorter than 2 hours

If she does not have her catnap she is overtired, very unsettled and it's hard to feed her. But I don't think I should have to wake her up from her catnap!

What am I doing wrong?

Nothing! I'd say your routine is very good. I always had to wake my DS from his catnap, I don't think there's anything wrong with that. If you're getting a 2hr nap, a 1.5hr nap, a 30 min catnap and good nights, then I wouldn't change a thing.... :)

Thanks. I thought they should naturally wake up from their catnap, as she used to do!

I'm sure there are loads of LO's who do, but my DS would sleep as long as I'd let him...I still wake him from 75% of his naps! :)
