11 month old has cut liquids in half. Normal?
« on: January 05, 2011, 20:23:24 pm »
All of a sudden this week, my 11 month old, who normally drinks 4 8oz bottles has been drinking 3 6 oz bottles. And even that is a struggle. His morning bottle has moved from 8:30-9:30. Then another one around 2 and then at bedtime.

I wouldn't worry, but he's not really eating much table food. He eats pureed baby food but any table food makes him vomit and gag. We're seeing lots of doctors to figure that out. But it's not like he's making up in solids what he's eliminated from his liquids.

So, should I worry about the decrease in liquids? Is that normal? I guess as long as he still sleeps all night, he's okay with it, right?

So funny how close our LOs r in age and we both r having nap and bottle issues!  I was just about to post about my DS not taking enough now that I cut to 3 bottles instead of 4.  I was doing your same sched but he refuses the bedtime bottle at 7pm.  He eats 8oz of baby food at dinner at 4:30, I was thinking if that was the reason.  My DS hates finger foods, I finally got him to eat corn muffins - he will however try to eat our food if we put it in his mouth - but I try to let him feed himself like Tracy says.  As far as baby food alone how much does he eat?  DS did went on total food srtike for a few days, doc said teething - even tho nothing cut you can see they r comin soon.
Proud Momma to my one and only Nicolas!  Born 2-25-10

hmmmm, you know, he could be getting some more teeth on bottom. He's got all four on top (that was a lovely month long process) and the bottom two in the middle, but maybe those next two are coming in.

I always feel better when I see other moms with babies around the same age going through the same stuff. I pull my hair a wee bit less!

As for solids/baby food, he's eating less at breakfast but more the other meals. He used to be a bottomless pit (the kid was 9.9 when born and right now is at 25 lbs at 11 months) but has suddenly been very definitive when he's finished. He's even picked up on the all done sign.
