When did your lo need the nap cut?
« on: January 11, 2011, 00:14:40 am »
Hi everyone,

DS is 19 months old.  Before Christmas he was fighting nighttime sleep so we tried increasing A time to 6 hours before bed (kept A time before nap to 5hrs) and he went to sleep well.  Then he got sick and A times dropped down.  He's pretty much better now, just a runny nose.  He started refusing his nap on Tuesday.  We thought it was just because I started back to work (DH is at home with him) that day after the Christmas holidays but it kept happening so DH tried a longer A time (about 5:30) and he went down easily...although that seems to be too short now.

So here's my question. When did you start having to cut your lo's nap?  It's looking like 6 hrs is going to be needed for the first activity time which means something needs to be tweaked for the nap and the second A time or he's heading towards a 15 hr day :o

He went to 1 nap by about 10.5 months but we really should have done it earlier.  We only cut the short second nap when he was having to go to bed at 10:30pm...I'm embarrassed to say that but it just seemed so early to be on one nap.

He's happy when he wakes and during the day....can he really be ready for just an hour nap?  He sleeps 2-3 if we let him.

Thanks :)

Tagging along as I have been wondering if my DS may be needing less day time sleep (he's 20 months). Not convinced though as I'm now wondering if he's actually OT!

Interested to see what others say :)

It's so hard to know isn't it?
