Newborn feed intervals

My newborn breast feeds every couple of hours. When do feeds become less frequent?

I'd say things evened out for us pretty much after 6/7 weeks. Its hard going in the beginning but you are setting yourself and your LO up for the future by demand feeding, these early days are crucial for your supply.

Sometimes DD would go more than 2 hours for a feed but I would always feed her by three hours just to try and keep her calories up. Its hard going but worth it.

 COngratulations by the way!  :)

Hi there,
 Congrats on the Baby!
Yes, I call it the 'feeding marathon' those first few weeks, but it should start getting better... How old is your LO?
I found that with us, both DD and DS, it was a gradual progress in terms of feeds and, as Emma said, by 6/7 weeks we were doing 3hourly feeds with a bit longer stretches at night.
But I remember very well with DS that the first 3 days were REALLY bad with the feeding, and that by the time he was 3/4 weeks, I already had a bit more space between feeds and some longer stretches at night (not all the time mind you).
