Question
« on: January 13, 2011, 21:13:34 pm »
My LO is almost 6 months old BF and was sleeping through the night for over 2 months until teething started and messed him all up and I started nursing him because it was the quickest way to get him back to sleep.  Now it has become habit to nurse several times a night.  My question is since I know he can sleep through the night should I just cut all feedings at once and pat/sh and pu/pd whenever he wakes?  He does pick up on new habits real quick so I think it would only take one or two nights to change this but I am afraid being he does snack at night now will that short him calories if I cut it all even if I do extra feedings in the day.

Thanks for the help.
Mandi

Hi there Mandi, even if they once slept through, it doesn't mean they continue to do so.  Unfortunately there are just too many variables in the first 12 mths that can interfere with sleeping in the night.  At 6 mths there is a huge growth spurt so it's not uncommon for BF babes to eat a lot more at night.  What does your day look like?  Has he started solids yet?  Are you medicating for the teething aspect?
The tweaking never stops!
