domperidone and return of AF??
« on: February 12, 2011, 03:54:49 am »
Just wondering if anyone might have a clue about this. With DS, AF returned around 7 months once he was taking solids fairly well. DD is 9 months and counting now with no sign of it. NOT complaining, just wondering if the fact that I'm still on domperidone may be the reason for this? If it's keeping the milk producing hormones elevated, does it make sense that maybe AF wouldn't return until I stop taking it?

Hi there,
I wouldn't think it's the domperidone either, sometimes it might take up to one year before your period returns.
But just to be sure... have yout taken a pg test? Usually once you introduce solids and/or reduce the number of BF your period tends to return (irregular as it may be).

I've read that the average time for AF to return if you're still BF is 14mos. Mine came back at bang on 14mos this time :) With DD1 it came back a few weeks after I'd stopped BF her at 9.5 mos. From speaking to friends it seems to realy vary when AF comes back and can really vary after one LO to another.

Thanks ladies! Not suspecting pg or anything, was just mildly curious if this could be a side effect from the domperidone (keeping the hormone levels up and all). I'll certainly enjoy it while it lasts. :) Stacy, do you remember how many pills a day you were on when AF came back? I'm stuck at 6 per day.
