FOMO?

(fear of missing out)

Has there been some new developments...just asking because DS has just started to walk using his walk and its all he wants to do, doesn't want to leave it behind to go for nap...maybe something like that is going on but not so obvious?

hugs to you my love...

SA..it could be. She was very clingy, rubbing her eyes and seemingly very hungry but then didn't eat much for lunch.

Teeth..It could be, as usual. One canine's cut and the other three are there, waiting. I gave her advil.

Milestones..nothing. Really, that I know of.

She didn't go to sleep for 10 minutes, went in shush patted her, re started the wind down, put her back down and she cried for another few minutes. Went back in and shush patted her and she slept for 30 minutes.

I don't know..she's fine now. We sat in the dark for 30 minutes.

She was so happy to go to bed. I asked if she wanted to nap and she got so happy and we went to her room and we read her book. I put her down, left and she started crying after 20 seconds or so. What gives?

My money is on teeth and SA as a result of that.  I don't think simple OT or UT would cause that kind of crying.  Poor thing, teething really sucks.  :(

For what it is worth my DS cries more hysterically when UT at bed or nap time than when he is OT.  Honeslty you would think the world is coming to and end with the hysteria.

But like the others said I would try and rule out SA and teeth first.

I'm voting teeth (with resulting SA) also. HUGS Sarah!

Thanks for all the votes.
She has been doing this crying before a nap for about 2-3 weeks. today was the second worst day and the first time she cried this hysterically I had to take her into the car for a drive to get a 45 minute nap.

...so what do I do? Just give her some advil before her nap and say a little prayer? I don't know..I guess I don't understand if it's teething why does she want to go to bed but waits. Do you think it's "I'm in pain and I can't go to bed?"

LittleJ - really? :( Does he wake up happy or cries hysterically after he wakes too? what makes you think it's UT? I would suspect it's UT IF she didn't give me good naps on those days when she cries less hysterically and puts herself to sleep for 2 hours and I have to go wake up her, you know? Plus, she usually goes to bed but wakes up at an hour or an hour and 25 (if her past sleeping before a year is any hints to what she'll do later when she starts cutting).

Thanks lovely ladies. I needed the hand holding and hugs today. You're all super. :-*

You can have lots of (((hugs))) Sarah

TBH I could never figure T would when he was teething, especially canines.  Nothing made sense.  I just knew that's what it was.  Not sure how we got through it, just kinda rode it out I guess.  :P

J will wake up happy if it is an UT nap, so maybe if it your LO is still waking crying than Ut isn't the issue.  For an UT nap J will generally still have a decent nap, as he has got rid of a bit of energy with all the drama of going to bed.  But 99% will wake happy.  How he wakes is a huge OT/UT indicator for us.

I would try the meds, say 15-20min before bed and see what happens.  I read somewhere that with pain they are ok while they are up as they are busy and are distracted from it, but when they are in bed it is kind of all they can feel, hence why there are sleep issues with teething.

Good luck, these LO's are always throwing curve balls to try and catch us out.

hugs Sarah

I think its worth trying the meds too...it could be that she only really notices the teething pain she's in cause she is lying down and being still...when she is up and busy perhaps its just a background thing she doesn't notice so much. Not sure, we were very lucky and had no noticeable teething pain at all, so don't have direct experience.

How much A time is she doing before nap at the moment? Maybe she does need a little more? She could be so used to the routine of nap time that she thinks she wants to go to nap but when she gets there she can't get to sleep cause she's not quite tired enough??? I dunno! but sending you hugs

thanks ladies.

Danni - I've been keeping UT at the back of my mind..again, it's not her usual style of exhibiting UT but I'm definitely open to anything. She gets 5.5 average before she goes down for her nap. At most 5 hours and 45 minutes...

I'm just happy this day is over. I don't know why we get so down about sleep, yk? I -know- they're little for such a small time and these things will pass, but when you're in the moment you just feel so devastated you can't help them.

hi love

I think Isaac is in a transition to heading towards a 6 hour A time...but its different day to day..maybe you are in the same boat too?

I hear ya about getting down about sleep. I think there are lots of reasons, the first being we hate to see them suffer. And then also because we have been following BW and have had it go so well (on and off!) its disheartening when things go wrong. And lets not forget that nap time is our time. Its the only time of the day I have to myself and when its hard to get a nap it can be frustrating because its exhausting and there is no relief. Oh and then, you just think 'poor little thing, struggling so hard!'

you're right...it will pass. it always does...but in the meantime...have a whine (and a wine!)

hugs
xo

Danni - what does Isaac do before he goes to nap if he's UT?

She's still crying. -Crying- She finally goes to bed...and falls asleep for nearly two hours. UT? I don't know..I'm really just hoping it is..but I don't think 15 minutes would make a difference. she finally falls asleep at 1 after I put her down at 12:50. Almost 6 hours of A time..maybe more like 5 hours and 45 minutes. Sigh.

We had another toddler here yesterday for 3 hours they were playing before I put her down for a nap and they left before I put her down. Still crying. UT?

She doesn't cry at bedtime though...and I give her 5 hours of A time before bed. And she has about 11 hours of sleep up to 11 hours and 15 mins.

Just needed to write it out. Thanks for listening :-*

Oh love

big hugs to you

Isaac is a total nightmare if I try to get him down and he is UT. Hysterical. It can really mess things up. I think if that happens to us again I am going to try for about 10 mins and then leave it a read books or something for a while and try again. Also, I find that if we have friends over to close to nap time he can't get down very easily. We did baby boogie class on Saturday, stopped in at a friends on the way home and it was just too much, he couldn't sleep and ended up having to pram it which I haven't done since he was a newbie.

I wouldn't discount UT and/or over stimulation.

What A times have you been doing? Gonna try stretching it?

Or perhaps doing set nap time?

Argh! Not sure what to tell you except its going to be okay and you are amazing gorgeous lovely woman
