Hi

We're going through the no-nap transition ATM. The below support thread might help.

http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=185617.0

Have you tried capping your LO's nap at 1hr? I'm having to do that with my DD who's 32 mths old.

Usually the signs of dropping a nap are nap &/or BT resistance, NW's & EW's (not necessarily all of these!).

If you want to post your routine I'm happy to have a look.  :)

I was also under the impression that another sign was when your LO is not taking the nap yet tacking it on to nightsleep no problem. Hope that makes sense.

I tohught DS (27 months) was dropping. He had only a couple of naps in a 2 week period. He was tacking on to nightsleep too and aside from a little grumpiness before bed was doing just fine. I however was not.  :P He started napping again just last week though thankfully. I owuld much rather have the shorter night and an hour or 2 during the day to recharge my batteries!

Spencer is almost 31 months and has a nap about 50% of the time (daycare days not at all anymore) The days she does nap, I've pushed her nap back until 2 pm and alot of the time we hear her playing in bed for up to an hour before she drops off for 30-45 mins. Yet somehow she will still go to bed by 7:30!  She is one who would totally tack that sleep on to her nighttime, but I like a break from her constant neediness!

For me it works out because I have Masyn being up until 8:30 anyways, so I would preserve Spencer's nap in favour of a similar bedtime, whereas I did the opposite for Masyn - ditched the nap at 2.5 to keep an early bedtime the same as the baby's!

We'll be doing this I think in the Summer when DS is 2.5. I'd like to keep both kids bedtime the same for as long as possible.  :-*

Hi thank you so much for your replies! His day goes pretty much like this...

6.30-7  wake up and breakfast
9.30  snacktime
11.30 lunch

12.30-1pm nap time

this is where he will sleep anything from 1-2 hours
on somedays he has slept for 3 hours (i think this is from his early wakings with the newborn catching up on him)!!

2.30-3pm snacktime
5.30 dinner
6.30  bath
7.30 bedtime

he will go straight down and to sleep always by 7.45pm
on the odd day where he says "no nap" and when he is still talking in his room at 1.30 he will have a short cat nap anywhere between 3-4 often when his on the sofa watching tv, but this has only happened a handful of times! thank you everyone for your comments, when he finally drops this day nap what time is bed time? a little earlier or the same as it is now? x

So whats making you think he might be droppping? How often is he not taking a nap?

When he does finally drop the nap I would bring bedtime earlier for a while to combat any OT, hopefully he'll be a gooD boy anf tack it onto hiS nightsleep!

Our bedtime is usually only 15 min early on no nap days, as it really wouldn't work any earlier (she is a stickler for routine and we have to do the same things every night-supper, play, bath, stories, bed, to avoid meltdowns!)  She takes OT really well now, and seems chipper to anyone else, but I can see the bags forming under her eyes and the little yawns.

Does he have no nap days after a day of having a longer nap (2-3 hours)?  Just wondering if all that extra sleep is piling up and making it hard for him to have a nap.  When we sleep in we generally get no nap or the 3:00 catnap.  I keep up the routine of putting her to bed for a nap whether she sleeps or not, it is a bit of a break for all of us and if she sleeps, she sleeps!
