Do you think I should start solids?
« on: March 04, 2011, 22:33:53 pm »
My DS is nearly 5.5months and is mainly BF except for a top up of formula before bed. He was on a 4hour easy but I found he wasn't getting enough calories for the day and put it back to a 3.5 easy. But over the last month he has began to slowly reduce the time between feeds with some of them been 2-2.5hours since his last feed. Therefore he is having between 7-8 feeds a day at the moment compared to the 5-6 he was having. I have found he is also starting to wake earlier in the morning - anywhere between 4-5am.

This is his current easy

E-7:30ish BF
S-9:30-11
E- 11 BF
S- 1:30-3
E-3 BF
S-5ish
E-6 BF
E- 7 bottle and bed
S- 7pm-530 am
E-530am
S-530-730am

But we have been getting extra feeds in the morning and afternoon. To make it up to 8 feeds a day. Also he woke at 230 this morning so I just gave him some water, he drank about 60-70 mls then went back to sleep until 530.

He does seem to have fallen into a bit of a BF snacking habit.  I would work on pushing his feeds back 4hrly.

As for the solids, have you seen this link?  I think you will find it very helpful:    http://babywhispererforums.com/index.php?topic=36922.0
