Hardly taking any Milk now ??

Not sure if im posting in the right place or not ??

Miller has always mainly been BF...altho has been plenty used to a bottle and formula for a long time.

I am trying to gove him more bottles now than BF as back to work in a few weeks.

Thing is .,....i've noticed that he only seems to take about 4oz a time lateley !!??

Now i'm not sure whether this is because he is full on solids....or whether he has never been a big milk drinker ?? ( obviously BFing its hard to tell).

I'm worried hes not having enough !!??

Help ?

Can you post your routine including amounts of solids and formula and we'll see how everything adds up?

As he is still so young I would be inclined to back off on the solids a bit and make sure his milk intake is good Most importantly is he gaining weight steadily and having plenty of wet nappies?

Hi there,

We have only just really started trying to do an EASY....but this is how it seems to be going.

E - 7am up and BF
A - 8am Solids.....probably about 1 tblspn fruit puree and baby rice ( by 830 he seems to be getting tired but will fight me to fall asleep .....I am still rocking to sleep BTW....we are going to try asnd tackle pU/PD this weekend when OH is off )
S - 930 sleep ( this can last from 30 mins to 2 hrs )

E - 11 - BF
A - 1145 - solids 2 tblespns dinner....half a petite filous
S - 1pm - Sleep ( sometimes he either completely misses this or like yesterday had 25mins !)

E - 3pm - BF
A - 5pm solids sandwich ( i slice of bread ....most ends up on floor ) TBlespn of pudding
     6pm bath and wind down
S - 7pm ( note i have been bringing him into bed with me from 1am and he BFing him when he wakes.....so he does feed quite alot between 2 and 5 )

I know its not good habits we have and are hoping to sort his sleeping this weekend xx

OOh sorry forgot to add his milk in take....usually during the day its about 4 oz a feed x

So are you BFing for all milk feeds, or BF and bottle?  Would you say then he is taking about 16oz from the bottle a day plus BFs?  At this age LOs are getting enough milk if they are getting 4-5 BFs a day, or about 24-32oz milk from a bottle.  Any milk included in solids, i.e. in cereals or in the form or yogurt or cheese, counts towards milk intake as well.  Maybe that will give you an idea of whether or not he is getting enough.  If you think he isn't, then you could try cutting back solids a little bit to see if it helps.

Hmmm....yes probably around 16oz plus a fedw BFs ( which dont last that long but he seems to have a good feed !)

16oz of formula plus some BFs sounds like it is probably enough.
