Hi me again!

Sorry for posting so much but I'm new to this board and keep coming up with new questions!

My DD is 12wks old and has just started doing 30-40min naps during the day. I am watching closely and also bearing in mind that she may be OT, so adjusting A times accordingly.

But I've read on the FAQs that at this age they need 15-18hrs sleep per 24hrs.

The thing is she sleeps 12hrs at night, 7pm-7am with a DF a 10pm. I know this is unusual for a baby this age, so is she just having short naps during the day because she sleeps so well at night? Are all my efforts to extend her naps in vain? Could it be that she actually doesn't need longer naps during the day?

Thanks in advance.

K.x

Bit of an update.

The last few days have been the first time she's napped in her crib. Previously it was on me in the sling. SO maybe she's just getting used to the crib and when she does, she'll sleep longer?

Well, today she has consistently sustained A times of 2hrs. Then she will go down within 5 mins with no crying at all! But still only naps for 35mins. She is then happy to have more A time after the nap before the next feed.

SO our schedule is EASA repeated throughout the day.

Is this a sign she is transitioning to longer periods between feeds also?

Or do the short naps indicate growth spurt?

There are so many possibilities!!!!!!

I should say, she is happy when not napping.

She does wake crying from every nap, but instantly is happy as soon as I get her from crib (I do leave her 5-10 mins to see if she settles herself).

Does she wake consistently at 35 minutes? Have you tried wake to sleep or going in and resettling as soon as she starts stirring? With my LO if I let her wake up too much I couldn't get her resettled.

Hi thanks for the reply.

She wakes consistently at 35mins.

I see what you're saying. If it's an exact nap length, it's probably sleep cycle related instead of just not needing as much sleep?

Will try W2S and see what happens.

Thanks,
