Foods on prescription in the UK
« on: April 03, 2011, 18:01:23 pm »
Anyone know how/when/if you get foods on prescription in the UK? I know you can if you coeliac but what about allergies?  I did leave a voicemail for my dietician over a week ago and had nothing back yet  :-[

someone told me you can, if you are under a dietion as then its sorta confimerd iykwim

if you cant have commercial free from stuff its more likely to be allowed on script (like we cant buy commercial breads as they all have either milk, egg or soy in)

If you have had allergy testing, you can get it for sure!

Intollerence tends to be if your not able to get commercial produce

I spoke with a GF mum at school she is JUST GF and is able to get perscriptions

Is it only gluten free items you can get? DS is currently dairy and soya free so we have to buy calcium-enriched oat milk (we also get Neocate prescription, one sachet a day) which costs a fortune (compared to cows milk)

I spoke to the dietician today. She said it was only really for coeliacs.. I said that with 3 allergies to main food groups it was hard for us to find much in supermarkets! She is going to try and find some things for us and gte back to me

Thanks. He had an allergic reaction to something at dinner tonight. Suddenly started scratching his head and chest and crying. Looked and he had a rash all over the top of his chest. Can't imagine what he reacted to, must have been somehting that sneaked in  ::)
