Vomiting morning bottle
« on: April 04, 2011, 02:55:56 am »
Yesterday and today DD has vomited her morning bottle.
She drinks about 4oz and then pukes it up (normally she has 7/8oz bottles)
She has been sleeping 12 hours so 6 - 6, so she must be hungry in fact she is looking for the bottle that is why I give it. This morning I waited a little longer to see if that helped but no she puked it straight back up!
Anyone have any ideas??

Could she be gulping it too fast because she is hungry? Or it could be a bit of a bug - does she have a cold at all, could be because of mucous in her tummy from over night if she does. Does she have reflux or anything?

Other than that no idea sorry! Keep an eye on her and see your Dr if it persists.

No bug - but the mucous could be it! also no reflux. I did suspect the mucous.....will try and hold her off even longer in the morning and see if that helps!
Thanks for replying!

Let us know how she is tomorrow Amy - I have often had these random things come and go really.

((hugs))

Yesterday I waited 30mins same today yesterday she was fine although only took 4oz - today she took 4oz and threw it all back up again :(
Could she maybe not be hungry????
Maybe I need to wait like 2 hours or something although I like her to eat breakfast with us so if I wait too long then she misses out on sitting at the table (we do BLW so it is important for her to see us munching :) )

Sorry - not sure what you mean about the timing of solids and bottles??

I do a bottle ages after Meg wakes but that is because she refuses earlier. So she wakes at 6.30am, has a drink of water out her cup, then has breakfast at 7.30am ish, but doesn't have a bottle until 9.30am. She just won't have it until she is tired. But Meg has been like that since birth TBH. She just will NOT do an EAS pattern.

What I mean is we eat breakfast together and I don't want to give her solids before her bottle. So if she doesn't have a morning bottle when she wakes then I would be reluctant to give her solids first. But I am beginning to think that DD too only likes her bottle when tired!!!

How are things Amy??

I never worked out why Megan won't eat really - I suspect it may be something to do with having a hectic toddler playing and being too 'busy' for her bottle when she is wide awake. Now at 10 mths it will be partly habit too, but I am not fighting it (rightly or wrongly as long as she doesn't fall asleep on it I am happy).

I still feed her with the rest of us regardless - she just has her water after wake-up - and breakfast is about 1-1.5hrs later most of the time. Her choice!!
