Good morning;
I have a daughter who is 2 years and 5 months old as of yesterday. Since she was about 2 years old, if not before that even, every night we put her to bed (which is at 7:30 p.m.), she stays awake in her crib talking and singing, playing with her blankets, sometimes undressing herself and just having a good old time until about 10:00 p.m. at night. She is not crying or screaming (except when she is first put to bed as she hates initially going), but is definitely awake until at least this time.
Her schedule is the following:
Awake around 7:30 a.m.
Breakfast 8:00 a.m.
Snack 10:30 a.m.
Lunch 12-12:30 p.m.
Nap 1:00-1:30 to 3:00 p.m. (we usually have to go in and wake her up or she would sleep until 3:30-4:00p.m.)
Snack usually when she gets up or shortly after
Dinner 5:30-6:00 p.m.
Snack (sometimes) 6:45 p.m.
Bedtime routine starts at 7:00 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. if it's a bath night (i.e. pajamas on, brush teeth, read books)
By the time this is done, Bedtime 7:30 p.m.
We have found when she has not had a nap (this does not happen often), she will tend to fall asleep quite quickly with no problems and have a better time going to bed as well and still sleep through the night.
She has never really had a problem sleeping through the night since she was 1 year old and usually sleeps right through without waking. The odd time, she may wake up, but is easy to settle again when she does.
My question is - may she be ready to cut out her nap altogether even though she's this young since she's staying up so late every night?
She is still in a crib as we are very reluctant to move her to a big bed since she is awake for so long and we know she would be constantly getting out of bed if she was able to.
My husband wants to remove the nap, but I think it's too early since she's so young.
Any advice/insight would be appreciated!
Thank you very much!
