how to stop co sleeping
« on: April 20, 2011, 19:11:17 pm »
I need some tip and guidance....
My DS is 10 1/2 months old, he was a good independent sleeper until he was about 4 or 5 months old when we went through illness and teething, colds etc and just lost track.... he is cuddled to sleep or put in a sling until he sleeps. Afterwards i put him down in his cot, during nap time he can sleep for a hour or more, he still has two naps a day.
At night time, he wakes up so many times I can't even count eventually i toss him into our bed, during the early hours of the morning. I am very certain that he wakes up because he wants to come into bed with me.
But when he is our bed, he does not even sleep well, he is constantly checking to see if I am still in bed with me.
DS is very strong willed and tough hence i know i have to be firm with sorting his sleep out.
What is the best method to wean him off co sleeping?
Many thanks

PUPD. Although I would suggest you use it for naps, and at bedtime, and for NWs as well. It will be very hard work, but it is not impossible. At this age, you really wouldn't pick up at all in PUPD, just lie him down when he is standing in his cot crying, and stay with him to comfort him/reassure him with your presence. He won't cry forever - but it might feel like forever.

My DS #2 is so strong willed and can cry and wail for the whole of England !!
he can cry until he is sick and can scream until he looses his voice.
should i still do the pupd method ?
can you send me a link to it so that i can read it properly before starting.
Thanks
