5mo old and ideas for eliminating night wakings?
« on: May 27, 2011, 17:40:20 pm »
Hi Everyone-
Need some advise on the best way to eliminate night wakings for boy #2 :)
He had been doing some 4-5 hour stretches at night and just now is waking about 4-5 times a night. He is in our room, becuase he will have to share a room with his almost 4 year old brother and I can not put him in brother's room until he sleeps better at night.

We have him in a pack and play in our room and here is the schedule:

wake: around 8am

feed 830am
1st nap 930-10am

11am - eat, wake, play

12:20-1am tired again - 2nd nap

145-230 wake - eat ,play, etc

430 eat

500-600pm =- gets fussy for 3rd nap depending when he last woke goes down for about 30 minutes

630-ish eats
(sometimes eats around 730ish)
8pm bed

10-11pm - 1sat waking

1-2pm 2nd waking

330pm 3rd wake
430-530  4th waking

all night wakings baby wants to nurse - we are only breastfeeding. I was going to put baby in my office area in the pack and play and send husband in for the middle 2 wakings and see if he can calm him, because if i am in the room baby always smells me and wants to snack!

Any advise would be appreciated - AND OR advise on GETTING BABY TO SHARE a room with big brother!

 Hi hon,

No advice on the room sharing I'm afraid but I do think its an awesome idea to get DH to go in and do the settling when its not hunger.

I also think you maybe need to increase your A time during the day. How long does he generally nap for? Does he settle independantly for naps?

I agree with Emma that he probably needs longer A times, especially in the first part of the day. I think you need to move to a 4hr EASY. It is quite common for LOs to start waking to feed at night because they are still on a 3hr EASY after 4mo.
Here are some links that should help.
