I have a LO who is way off course with A times too... you have to follow their needs with that for sure.  If I put my almost 7 month old down after 2 hr 45, she won't sleep.  She easily goes to 3 hr 15 in the morning and then another 3 hr 15 between naps, then 4 hr A to bedtime.  Anything less, we have NW and a grumpy girl!

It really sounds like the solids is what is causing most of her issues... Maybe cut back on the amount of each thing that you are feeding her to give her system a bit more time to adjust?

Improvement. DD slept from 7.45 pm until 3am (BF) then through to 6.45am. Less solids is obviously working. SHe was at our table at dinnes last night because she'd had a catnap and seemed to be wondering why she wasn't having any food so I just gave her some pear, broccoli and spring cabbage on her tray. She's very good with finger foods and managed well. This morning her BM was a lot better and obviously had last night's dinner in it. So maybe I'll go more with BLW rather than spoon purees and see how we go. As long as we don't have a 2 hr A time during the night I'm happy to start weaning NFs!

Wahoo :) I have learnt from this post too thanks ladies. We gave our LO less dinner and a bigger lunch and he slept better as well. I think a full tum of solids and milk before bed may have been contributing to our NW as well.

So many thanks for hanging in there with us Kara. The myth of solid food making them sleep better has been busted!! Last night we managed 1 Bf at midnight and settled her back to sleep when she woke at 2.30am and 5am until BF at 6.30am. On our way for the moment. Until the next blip of course! But so much gratitude for you advice!!

DD is 7.5 months too and come to think of it has got worse since adding a dinner again. HV said she should be on 3 meals after 7 months and 4 rather than 5 daily BF and to start cutting back to 3 BFs at 9 months.

This confuses me as my HV just told me on the telephone to give my DD an extra meal before bedtime.  She is already on 3 meals per day and she's just coming up 6 months old.  So, very contrary to what you are being told.  Seems there is no consistency anywhere with advice is there :(

I was urged to get DD on 3 meals as well by 7 months but urged not to start solids until 6 months. I see every country's advice is different but every baby is different too. Some mums swear by solids making their DC STTN but DD doesn't seem to be able to cope even though she loves mealtimes. Her pincer grab and chewing and swallowing food is great for 7 months but her poor little tummy is obviously not quite there yet. You'll have to follow your baby's lead rather than HV I'm afraid!! Plus some grattips on here!

I agree hun. Each child is so different. My eldest, who was a prem baby and is now nearly 13 years old (where did the time go??!) I commenced weaning at 13 weeks as she was so hungry - this was on the advice of the HV and she did great. That all changed though.

My toddler I began to wean at 17 weeks and she's also done absolutely fine and dandy and continued to be a great sleeper but this little 'un is having none of it.  She loves the food, doesn't seem to have a problem with eating but boy, she needs some attention overnight too.  My pattern is a midnight, 2am, 4am type feed session which I need to break (and am working on with lots of lovely ladies help in another thread).

Good luck hun! x

That's the key... all babies are individual and there really is no best advice that will work for all of them... we just have to try different things out and see what happens :)

So glad that you are on your way to STTN again!
