My dd is also the same age and we are trying a 3 hour schedule like yours, but sometimes she eats at 2.5 hrs during the day. We don't do a dream feed. My DH and I don't feel comfy puting a bottle in dd's mouth while she is asleep because she tends to aspirate the milk some times. Instead, we wake for her to wake and eat. This usually happened sometime between 11 and 12 anyway. By doing the math, our babes seem to be getting about the same amount of milk in a 24 hour period. Although, my dd is purely formula fed. At night, on a good night, she wakes around 3:30 to eat and then again at 6-7. However, that hasn't happened in over a week for her and I'm wondering if she is going through/ finishing up the 6 week growth spurt. Lately, she has been waking at 2-3, and 4-5. Last night was the first night she seemed a little back on track. She has never gone more that 4.5 hours without a feed, except once which I believe was a fluke as she too 6 ounces at 7 and DH woke her to eat at 12. It was a hot day and I'm sure she was a little dehydrated.
My pedi says we are lucky that she sleeps 3.5 to 4 hour stretches at this point. But, I'm with you, Tracy says she can go 5 hours at this point, so why isn't she? This is only our 5th day doing easy so I think I need to give her more time to adjust, and I'm wondering if a growth spurt has anything to do with it.
I just wanted to say, you're not alone.
Also, dd weighs about 10 pounds right now. People who practice easy or not tell me at 8 weeks to 12 weeks is when they start to hold a little bit more and sleep longer stretches.
After looking at your schedule, it has given me some ideas:
I think I need to work on getting dd going 3 hr stretches during the day. She hits the afternoon and then tends to go every 2.5 hours, but only takes 2 ounces and is sometimes hungry again an hour and a half later when it is time for her to nap. It kind of messes with the schedule, but I hate holding out a hungry baby. My theory though is that she thinks she's hungry and probably is a little, but after 2 ounces realizes she wasn't that hungry.
Again, you're not alone and according to my pedi, we are the lucky ones that our babes sleep that long of stretches at this age.
